In a revealing and controversial interview on Podcast and Chill with MacG, Advocate Malesela Teffo dropped bombshell allegations that have left South Africans shocked and social media buzzing. The former lawyer, who was once part of the legal team involved in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, used the platform to expose what he claims to be deep-rooted corruption within the South African Police Service (SAPS) and political circles.

Teffo, who served prison time after being sentenced in October 2023, returned to the public eye with startling claims involving high-ranking officials and criminal networks. During the interview, he accused former Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, of being a drug supplier operating in Johannesburg. According to Teffo, Mawela plays a key role in what he described as a “well-organised drug ring” involving law enforcement.

The interview didn’t stop there. Teffo revealed that he was once offered a R45 million bribe to drop the high-profile Senzo Meyiwa case. He recalled being summoned to a meeting at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre on 9 August, where an official tried to convince him to abandon the case, citing his promising career and the futility of fighting for someone already deceased.

“At exactly 10 o’clock, he said, ‘You have a career, you’re the best lawyer, even I can use your services. But Senzo Meyiwa is dead. Is it worth it to risk your life and career? Senzo will not come back’,” Teffo recalled during the interview.

Teffo didn’t hold back in naming political figures he believes contributed to his downfall. He mentioned former Police Minister Bheki Cele and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema as individuals who “made his life a misery.” He further criticized Malema for allegedly siding with individuals obstructing justice in the Meyiwa case.

In line with recent corruption exposures by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, Teffo’s revelations seem to echo a broader sentiment of institutional failure. Supporters online hailed both Mkhwanazi and Teffo as heroes for exposing wrongdoing within the government and SAPS.https://x.com/MDNnewss/status/1945811579208966396?t=w4ROcoqQHI0xFIFmHtmruQ&s=19

“Protect Lord General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Adv Teffo. They are national heroes who exposed the corrupt ANC comrades in bed with drug lords. Our country is gone.”

Another user, @officialtwinny, commented:
“Criminals are having a hard time. Thanks to General Mkhwanazi and Adv Teffo for exposing them.”

Teffo is expected to continue making revelations in a follow-up interview with Ntsiki Mazwai on the Moya Podcast. Many netizens expressed concern for his safety, noting the seriousness of the names and accusations he has brought forward.

In a related development, singer Kelly Khumalo was once again named a person of interest in the ongoing investigation into Senzo Meyiwa’s murder, according to Brigadier Bongani Gininda. Meanwhile, Longwe Twala has reportedly been removed from the suspect list.

Teffo’s return to the spotlight has reignited public interest in the unresolved case and the alleged corruption within South Africa’s justice system. His claims, if substantiated, could mark a turning point in both the Meyiwa investigation and the country’s ongoing battle against institutional corruption.
